PENGARUH KEMAMPUAN NUMERASI DALAM MENYELESAIKAN MASALAH MATEMATIKA TERHADAP PRESTASI BELAJAR SISWA KELAS XI PADA MATA PELAJARAN MATEMATIKA

Abstract


This study aimed to analyze the effect of numeracy skills in solving mathematical problems on the mathematics learning achievement of eleventh-grade students at MA Fathus Salafi. This research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The population of the study consisted of all eleventh-grade students of MA Fathus Salafi, with a sample of 30 students. Data were collected through a test to measure students’ numeracy skills and documentation to obtain data on their mathematics learning achievement. The research instruments were first tested for validity, reliability, and discrimination index. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, normality testing, Pearson Product-Moment correlation analysis, and coefficient of determination analysis. The results showed that students’ numeracy skills were categorized as very good, with an average score of 83.83, while their mathematics learning achievement was also categorized as very good, with an average score of 84.90. The normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed, with a significance value of 0.200 > 0.05. The correlation analysis yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.997 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a positive and significant relationship between numeracy skills and mathematics learning achievement. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination analysis showed an R Square value of 0.994, meaning that numeracy skills contributed 99.4% to students’ mathematics learning achievement, while the remaining 0.6% was influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that numeracy skills have a very strong and significant effect on the mathematics learning achievement of eleventh-grade students at MA Fathus Salafi. The higher the students’ numeracy skills in solving mathematical problems, the higher their mathematics learning achievement.
